BHC Cath Lab Team Achieves 100 Percent Upper-Level Certification

BHC Cath Lab Team

The Baptist Heart & Vascular Institute (BHVI) catheterization (cath) lab has achieved the ambitious goal for all team members to earn certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International. BHVI is the only area health care provider with a cath lab fully staffed with registered cardiovascular invasive specialists (RCIS) and registered cardiac electrophysiology specialists (RCES).

This higher level of specialization is in addition to the clinical professional licenses in registered nursing and radiologic technology team members already possess.

Cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology team members at Baptist and Gulf Breeze hospitals have gained this higher level of certification to raise the bar in this area of care that is integral to diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.

"Full accreditation means our team has the highest level skills and knowledge. This is the expected standard in our cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs," said Victor Hall, vice president, Baptist Health Care. "Our team collectively made this a goal, and they have achieved it together to ensure better patient care."

BHVI is the area’s largest and most comprehensive cardiovascular program, providing patients with quality care and a full range of advanced treatment options. The team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, vein specialists and cardiothoracic surgeons who are known for pioneering innovative procedures. The group is the area’s most experienced in cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures. Learn more about BHVI by visiting eBaptistHealthCare.org/heart or call 850.437.8300.
