Meet Your Provider

What led you to become a nurse practitioner or choose your focus of medicine?
I knew from a young age that I wanted to work in the medical field because I always had a passion for helping others. Both of my grandparents served as nurses in the United States Army and that played a big role in influencing both my personal and career goals.

What about your line of work do you find most rewarding and why?
The most rewarding part about my area of work is the ability play a part in each of my patient’s personal health journey and working with them to obtain their specific goals.

What is something about you that only your patients would know?
I will never judge them for being open and honest with me, and I do everything I can to ease any fear or anxiety about being in the office because I also have “white coat syndrome.”

How would a patient describe you?
My patients would describe me as someone that is always open to listening to them and who always does her best to take care of them.

What’s your proudest moment as a nurse practitioner?
My proudest moment in my career was receiving the Daisy Award for providing exemplary care to one of my patients and his family. That was the moment that I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be.

In your opinion, what’s the most important factor in a provider-patient relationship?
The most important factor of a care provider-patient relationship is the ability to trust and be open with one another. 

What can a patient expect when they have you as a nurse practitioner?
My patients can expect me to sit down and listen to whatever they have to say with an open mind, have an honest conversation about their health and particular goals we may need to strive for, and the assurance that I will be there to help them every step of the way.

What do you find most encouraging about the work you do?
The most encouraging thing about my work is watching patients meet their goals, celebrating with them, and continuing the course. Research and treatment is always evolving and improving the way we treat certain conditions, and it makes me hopeful for the future of patient care.

What are your top priorities with every patient you see?
My top priority with my patients is to make sure they know that their health is my top priority and ensuring that their needs are being met.

Describe one of the top ways you ensure each patient receives the quality, personal health care he/she deserves.
I take the time to get to know my patients and their history. I like to know what they’ve done in past that has worked for them and what hasn’t. That allows me to build a care plan tailored to their individual needs.

Is there anything more that you would like prospective patients to know about you?
I want my patients to know that I will care for them and their families in a way that I would want for my own family.

Do you have any specific medical interests?
I really enjoy family medicine because it allows me to see patients coming from all walks of life and to care for them at every point in their life journey. Cardiology also holds a special place in my heart, and it is where I spent the entirety of my career as a registered nurse.
