 Language Services

At Baptist Health Care, we provide free professional medical interpreters to people who are LEP (limited English proficiency) or who are deaf, hard of hearing, vision impaired and/or blind. Language services are available 24/7 to all patients and families for appointments, procedures, and hospital stays. There is no cost to patients for interpretations at the hospital or any of our facilities. The hospital will provide appropriate auxiliary aids free of charge, including: language line services, in-person interpreters, video remote interpreting and written materials. How do I get an interpreter?

  • When scheduling a hospital appointment or service, if not asked, please let us know that you need an interpreter.
  • When you come to the hospital, tell a hospital team member if you need an interpreter.
  • We use a professional “Language Line” service that provides interpretation for more than 200 language dialects by telephone.

Deaf or Hard of Hearing

  • Baptist has contracts with professional interpreting services for in-person interpreting when needed.
  • Video remote interpreting is available at Baptist and some outpatient clinics for immediate communication with patients who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • When scheduling a hospital appointment or service, if not asked, please let us know that you need an interpreter.
  • When you come to the hospital, tell a hospital team member if you need an interpreter.

Interpreter services are available to you at no cost.
