Baptist Health Care 2024 Legends

Baptist Health Care honors its 2024 Legends on May 9 to kick off its 2025 National Health Care Week. Through careful selection, Legends of Baptist Health Care are chosen for demonstrating exemplary actions of the Baptist values of ownership, integrity, compassion, excellence and service.

The 2024 Legends of Baptist Health Care:

  • Jay Hospital nurses Greg Perry and Shelly Smith came to the aid of a physician involved in a car accident on a stormy Christmas morning.
  • Baptist Physician Enterprise population health care coordinator Lisa Davis paid a utility bill for one patient and helped another with nutrition and home care needs so they could focus on getting well.
  • Baptist Hospital nurses Gabbi Ibarra and Carissa Foote rallied their teams to work together to grant a sacred request for a patient’s last wish. Their efforts eased his burden and gave him and his family peace.
  • Andrews Institute physician assistant Tracy Fox Nelson took care of a student-athlete at a track meet and later went the extra length to make sure he could keep running.
  • Gulf Breeze Hospital emergency department manager Karen Tilton became an advocate for a woman who lost her husband suddenly. She helped her heal from depression and grief and gain confidence and independence.
  • Baptist Hospital nurse Jalynn Danielak-Revels met a young girl with a rare genetic condition and made it her mission to help the child cope.

A 15-person selection committee reviewed each nomination submitted by employee leaders and fellow team members. Votes were cast for the most compelling examples of Baptist values. Winners were recognized in a special celebration on May 9.

This marks the 26th year Baptist has recognized team members as Legends. This year’s Legend stories and a video showcasing each person can be found at eBaptistHealthCare.org/Legends.
