Highlighting The Foundation and Celebrating 75 Years at Baptist
Baptist Health Care Foundation is our focus in August as we continue to celebrate our 75th anniversary. Last year, the Foundation reached a milestone of its own, commemorating the 50th anniversary of its establishment on August 13, 1975. The Foundation has played a vital role in elevating compassionate care, expanding services, improving technology and supporting our Mission of helping people throughout life’s journey. The Foundation’s legacy is deeply rooted in the spirit of our community and team members whose contributions over the years have totaled more than $75 million. Then, now and always – the Foundation has continued to evolve alongside Baptist to meet the needs of our community.
Fast Facts
- The Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that uses 100% of donations to directly support patient care, essential programs and advanced technology within Baptist.
- Funding priorities include behavioral health, cancer, community health, heart and vascular, speech and hearing, stroke, women’s services, physical rehabilitation, sports medicine outreach and more.
- Baptist team members have contributed millions to the Foundation’s Helping Hands program to support three main areas: directly assisting team members and their families, giving back to our community and supporting our Mission of helping people throughout life’s journey.
- There are currently 1,222 team members donating to Helping Hands, with 123 giving at leadership level.
- The Helping Hands Mini-Grants program supports departments projects systemwide that are $5,000 or less to enhance patient care.
- Through Helping Hands, 35-40 scholarships are provided annually to team members and dependents.
- The Women’s Board of Baptist Health Care Foundation celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Members have raised and contributed more than $3.5 million to support varies initiatives within Baptist.
- The Foundation’s Mammogram Fund provides mammograms year-round to those in our community who are not insured and raises awareness and support for early detection. Over the last 17 years, 3,156 screenings have been provided. From these screenings, 872 required additional testing and 41 were diagnosed with breast cancer.
