Meet Your Doctor
What led you to become a doctor or choose your focus of medicine?
Having a cleft lip and palate, I spent a lot of time around doctors in my youth. In high school, I began shadowing and was really intrigued by the idea of becoming a physician. In training, I liked variety, so family medicine was a perfect fit for me.
What about your line of work do you find most rewarding and why?
Forming long-term relationships with my patients that allow me to help them make changes that improve their health and well-being.
What is something about you that only your patients would know?
I enjoy counseling and providing thorough instructions. If it isn’t explained clearly and written down, how could I expect them to remember and implement it?
How would a patient describe you?
As a good listener, and thorough.
What’s your proudest moment as a doctor?
When a patient has that “aha” moment and figures out a way to reach their goals – weight loss, lowering their blood pressure, reaching their goal A1c. I love helping people find what works for them.
In your opinion, what’s the most important factor in a doctor-patient relationship?
What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?
That I will be evidence-based and provide a wealth of knowledge to back up my recommendations. That I listen closely and try to understand them as a whole person, not just a patient. That I work with them to come up with a plan that will work, and provide clear and concise instructions so we are both on the same page as they leave the office.
What do you find most encouraging about the work you do?
Seeing people improve their health and well-being, whether through lifestyle or medications.
What are your top priorities with every patient you see?
Listening, formulating a plan that works for them, making sure we aren’t missing anything.
Describe one of the top ways you ensure each patient receives the quality, personal health care he/she deserves.
Do you have any specific medical interests?
