MEET THE DOC Q&A

What led you to become a doctor or choose your focus of medicine?
I was always interested in science as a child; that naturally led to an interest in medicine. My Father is a physician and I wanted to follow in his footsteps.

What about your line of work do you find most rewarding and why?
From a primary prevention standpoint, cardiology allows focus on modifying risk factors and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which allows people to feel better and live longer. For patients presenting with acute cardiovascular illness, it is very rewarding to provide corrective treatment that results in immediate clinical improvement.

How would a patient describe you?
Approachable, empathetic, wanting to do whatever possible to help them.

What’s your proudest moment as a doctor?
I am proud to serve as a cardiologist in this area in a great health system.

In your opinion, what’s the most important factor in a doctor-patient relationship?
Open communication, providing the best possible medical information that allows shared decision making, and respecting the wishes of an individual.

What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?
Someone that is an advocate for their medical care.
