I live in a community where health care is not always optimum. I have such confidence in Dr Vigo that I would prefer to drive more than an hour to see him rather than accepting mediocrity at home.

What led you to become a physician?
My father was a doctor; excellent role model.

What about your line of work do you find most rewarding and why?
It is most rewarding to be proactive in detecting problems before something serious happens – it saves lives.

How would a patient describe you?
Honest, thorough and compassionate – always willing to help.

What’s your proudest moment as a physician?
When I saved a patient with a massive pulmonary embolism after others gave up.

In your opinion, what’s the most important factor in a doctor-patient relationship?
Trust and respect.

What do you find most encouraging about the work you do?
Hard work pays off. People live longer when we work hard together to keep them healthy.

What are your top priorities with every patient you see?
To make sure that they are medically optimized.

Describe one of the top ways you ensure each patient receives the quality, personal health care they deserve.
I spend a lot of time explaining to patients what each lab result value means and how best to optimize it.

Is there anything you would like prospective patients to know about you?
I am a man of deep faith, always guided by a high power/purpose.
