Meet the Doctor

What about your line of work do you find most rewarding and why?
As a family medicine physician, it is most rewarding to develop a long-term partnership with my patients and care for them and their families over the years.

How would a patient describe you?
Good listener, patient, compassionate and efficient.

In your opinion, what's the most important factor in a doctor-patient relationship?
I believe that an open line of communication is key. It is vital that my patients feel that they can trust me and always know I will have their best interests at heart.

What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?
I will always strive to listen carefully, to never judge, be compassionate, and at times wear crazy socks.

Describe one of the top ways you ensure each patient receives the quality, personal health care he/she deserves.
I believe that medicine is not just a science but an art. Crafting an individualized approach for each one of my patients with a personalized plan for achieving wellness is just one of the many ways that my patients and I can achieve quality care.

Do you have any specific medical interests?
Due to my interest in HIV medicine, to my knowledge I was the only resident in the country to become an HIV specialist while still in residency training. With this extra training, I look at HIV like many other chronic diseases such as hypertension or diabetes. Instead of my patients seeking me for their hypertension and then another provider for their HIV, I am able to provide the full continuum of care for my patients.

What are the main/primary conditions you treat?
Common acute and chronic conditions seen in pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics as well as personalized screening and wellness visits.

What is the one thing about your specialty that most people don't realize?
We offer care for the whole family from pediatrics to geriatrics in a range of diseases from an ear infection in a toddler, diabetes in an adult, pneumonia in an elder, to a newly diagnosed teen with HIV.

What is the biggest MYTH or misconception about your specialty?
We are not just coughs and cold, but rather we treat our patients with complex acute and chronic conditions over their lifetime.

What aspect of your specialty is your favorite? Why?
Developing long-term relationships with my patients.
